Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) returned to public view on Friday with a video of a leisurely lakeside stroll, days after federal agents searched her Washington, D.C., home. The post, shared on X at the end of last week, features the congresswoman and her husband, Tim Mynett, walking on a dock surrounded by fall foliage. The video shows the pair smiling and holding coffee, ending with a montage of images from their walk.
The visual calm contrasts with the audio track, a Somali hip-hop song by Ilkacase Qays. According to a translation obtained by Fox News Digital, the lyrics boast that enemies scatter and are crushed. The song, titled 'Nimaan Ciilayba Icaaya,' describes the singer as the source of distress for those who threaten him. It states, 'If I draw on it late in the afternoon, by evening, I will have taught you a lesson.'
Omar’s return to Minnesota followed a roughly two-week absence from the public eye. The hiatus began after an Oct. 12, 2026, raid on her home by Homeland Security Investigations agents. During that search, federal agents confiscated her passport and cellphone. Her sister, Sahra Noor, was interviewed by investigators in the days following the raid. Federal agents also obtained Omar’s DNA, according to previous reports.
On Friday, media outlets tracked Omar as she cast an early ballot in Minneapolis alongside state Attorney General Keith Ellison. The two later visited the Karmel Mall of Somalia in Minneapolis, where they ate lunch with members of the Somali community and posed for photographs. Omar later posted the lakeside video to social media, though the timing of its filming is unclear. She restricted who could reply to the post directly. The only visible comment came from former House member Cori Bush, who wrote, 'We love this.'
The ongoing criminal investigation centers on potential fraud related to immigration paperwork filled out by Omar or her father during her citizenship process. Homeland Security Investigations, an agency under the Department of Homeland Security, is leading the probe. If fraud is proven, Omar could be denaturalized, according to border czar Tom Homan. He made that statement last week.
